UNIVERSUM teams up with The Association for Australian Heavy Metal (AAHM)
UNIVERSUM are pleased to announce that they have recently signed a deal with AAHM to become part of their newly formed booking agency's roster. The deal will see the majority of UNIVERSUM's show bookings for 2010 and beyond being handled by AAHM. UNIVERSUM are looking forward to working with AAHM to bring their live music to audiences around Australia. SYDNEY SCREAMFEST 09
It was an honor to perfom amongst such talented bands and to take part in the first Screamfest event - one of hopefully many more to come. We had a great time playing and hanging out with the other bands and crew. A massive thanks to Just Say Rock for putting on, and inviting Universum to play, such a cool festival. A great job was done. Thanks to everyone who came out and showed their support!

"Universum - back in July I recorded several parts (both cleans and growls) for the upcoming second album by the Australian band Universum. I must say I really like what these guys have put together and I think this album will be the one putting them on the map, judging from the few songs I have heard so far. Personally, I am really satisfied with how my parts turned out and think you guys who like my previous multi-vocal stuff will enjoy it too. Release at the turn of the year!"

27 July 2009 09 July 2009 Due for release in early 2010, the album tentatively titled 'MORTUUS MACHINA' will feature guest appearances from vocalist Christian Dlvestam (ex Scar Symmetry, Miseration) as well as guest guitar solos from Nightrage axe men Marios Iliopoulos and Olof Mvrck. Jens Bogren of Sweden's Fascination Street Studios (Opeth, Soilwork, Amon Amarth, Katatonia) will once again be handling both mixing and mastering duties. UNIVERSUM's lead guitarist Michael Soininen comments: "We are all excited by how the new album is developing so far and believe that the songs have a newfound depth, both musically and lyrically. The combination of the new material, the great guest musicians Christian, Marios and Olof, along with Jenss mixing and mastering should result in a great album". In the 12 months since the release of their debut album "Leto Destinatus", UNIVERSUM have made a major impact both in Australia and internationally and have received widespread acclaim from the media and their ever growing legion of fans. The success of the debut album together with live performances alongside international big guns 'Dragonforce' (Australian national tour) and 'Cradle of Filth', a string of endorsements and a very well received video clip has seen UNIVERSUM quickly become regarded as one of Australia's premier melodic death metal acts. Universum video clip
Shooting for the up coming video to the album title track 'Leto Destinatus' was completed on the 20th of December and we're stoked with how the filming went and the footage we captured. Although it was a damn long day (9AM - 11PM), with all the set up, hours of shooting and tear down, we're confident the end result will be well worth it!
